In today’s video, we answer the question, “How do I get my SSI Disability check if I don’t have a bank account in Harrison Arkansas?” The Social Security Administration does recognize that some folks don’t have a bank account. I will say up front it is monumentally easier for you to get your benefits quickly, and more easily if you do have a bank account.
But if you can’t have a bank account or just don’t have a bank account, they do have a debit card, the Direct Express Program, where they’ll load the card and then you can use the card to various places, or to get cash and pay your rent or what have you. So there is a mechanism for that. It’s called the Direct Express Card, and it’s a pre-paid debit card.
But if there’s any way that you can get a bank account, they would much prefer that and it’s generally much faster for them to do direct deposit for it.
