Do you have to give a recorded statement to the other driver’s insurance after a Missouri car accident? Springfield Missouri Personal Injury Attorney

Hello this is Springfield Missouri personal injury attorney Jason Krebs and in today’s video I thought we would answer the question we recently received from the individual who asked “do you have to give a recorded statement to the other party’s insurance.” Short answer to that question is no you do not.

In many cases it is probably not in your best interest to do so, in fact most cases it is not in your best interest to do so. If the adjuster calls you’re still treating, just say politely “I’m not really in a position to talk right now we will be getting back to you when we are ready to talk to the adjustors.”
Trying to get your story and trying to know and catch “mistakes” or you might say that they’re not injured and you might not know that or how badly injured at that point you might be, going to the hospital a day or two later. I ‘ve had clients tell me that adjuster calls them while they’re at the hospital so there’s really no good reason to do that.

We have answers to these questions and more, We’ve got a book you can get it on out website https://krebslawoffice.com phone numbers for us 417-883-5886 or 1-800-345-0535 and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to call us thanks for watching.

Again, you do not need to talk to the at-fault driver’s insurance adjuster but you should report the accident to your insurance, if the guy doesn’t have insurance or something you want to make sure your insurance company knows that there was an accident. But you do not need to give a recorded statement to the at-fault drivers insurance, you probably shouldn’t give a recorded statement to your insurance for that matter, but you need to find out where you are physically before you decide to proceed too far one way or another.

Sometimes that just means waiting, also if you have significant injuries talk to a lawyer we do offer a free book on our website krebslawoffice.com that gives you some more information about this. Knowledge is power and you want to have some information before you make any decisions. Give us a call 417-883-5886 or our toll free number 1-800-345-0535 if we can be of assistance of if you have any questions we will be glad to talk to you. Thanks for watching, bye.
